Welton-by-Lincoln Parish Council is seeking to appoint a competent and experienced administrative assistant to assist with the day to day tasks of the council and to support the Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer. Applicants will need to be proficient in using MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and have a good standard of written and spoken English. This is a varied and interesting role within local government requiring a ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to work on your own initiative at times and a good range of skills. You will be responsible for dealing with enquiries from members of the public, answering the telephone and responding to post and email communications. This will require dealing with a range of enquiries relating to all aspects of the council and the wider community so having a good local knowledge and experience dealing with the public will be very beneficial.
Other duties will include assisting in the preparation and printing of agendas, setting up for meetings, attendance and taking of minutes at Council meetings, ordering goods, responding appropriately to reports of damage or repairs required, co-ordinating the volunteer rota for the Library and Community Hub and a variety of other tasks as required by the Clerk to whom you will report. The post is for 18 hours a week over three days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and is based in the Parish Council Office. The salary will be in line with the 2019 National Pay Scales and in accordance with experience and qualifications £9.21 per hour, £17,711 pro rata; reviewed annually.
